SafeSport Compliance

Is CrewLAB SafeSport compliant?

Yes. CrewLAB’s communication structure was designed in alignment with SafeSport guidelines. It prevents 1:1 Coach-Athlete messaging and ensures all interactions are transparent and auditable.

How does CrewLAB structure communication to prevent violations?

CrewLAB enforces group-only communication—messages can only occur team-wide or between one Coach and at least two other Team Members. This design reduces the risks inherent in private communications and encourages clarity and visibility.

Can coaches and admins monitor athlete communication in CrewLAB?

Yes. All communication within CrewLAB is accessible to coaches and can be reviewed at any time, providing teams with a full audit trail of team interactions.

How does CrewLAB compare to texting or social media in terms of safety?

Unlike unmonitored platforms like SMS or Instagram, CrewLAB offers centralized, structured, and reviewable messaging within the same platform teams use for training and scheduling. This reduces the risk of misconduct and aligns with institutional policies.

Why is CrewLAB recommended by SafeSport-aligned organizations?

CrewLAB is endorsed by groups like USRowing and #WeRideTogether for providing a compliant and transparent team environment. CrewLAB safeguards support athlete safety and well-being while maintaining efficient team operations.

NCAA Compliance

Is CrewLAB an approved tool under NCAA rules?

CrewLAB is compliant when used correctly. Athlete use is voluntary and does not count toward NCAA hourly limits unless the activity is coach-directed or supervised.

Do activities logged in CrewLAB count as CARA?

Only if the activity is required by a Coach and serves an athletic purpose. Voluntary use of CrewLAB by Athletes does not fall under Countable Athletically Related Activities (CARA) per NCAA bylaw 17.02.1.

How should teams distinguish between required and voluntary sessions in CrewLAB?

Coaches can indicate in CrewLAB which activities are CARA or RARA (Required Athletically Related Activities).

Can CrewLAB help teams enforce NCAA-mandated days off and vacation periods?

Coaches can schedule in CrewLAB required days off, academic breaks, and vacation periods to ensure alignment with institutional policies.

What setup steps support NCAA compliance in CrewLAB?

NCAA teams must designate coach roles, define compliance periods (e.g., summer or academic breaks), and ensure athletes are briefed on what can and can’t be logged. These configurations are built into CrewLAB’s onboarding process for collegiate teams.
